Peter and Raquel
Dear Birth Parents,
It is with great honour and joy that we get to write this letter to you. We admire your strength and courage to proceed with the decision of adopting your baby. We want you to know that the family your baby is joining will always be loving and caring, and will give every opportunity possible for your little one.
We are Raquel and Peter. We are happily married for 7 years; we enjoy our life together and dream of growing our family through adoption. Let us take you on a small tour through our lives and the love we have to offer your child…
We met in college in Toronto, where we both obtained our college diplomas in International Business. Our relationship started as a friendship and blossomed into a loving one on a trip to Banff in western Canada. We have been in a loving and caring relationship since December 2006. We were married on a hot summer day in July 2011, and were very happy and lucky to have many of our family and close friends there to celebrate that special day with us.
Raquel is originally from Brazil, where she grew up with her mom, dad and older brother. Her parents and brother were also born in Brazil and it is their current home. She immigrated to Canada from Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2004. She currently works remotely from home as a Finance Manager for a company in Toronto, which sells airplane parts. She has been in this role for almost 10 years.
Peter was born in Canada, and grew up in Toronto most of his life, and moved to Vancouver, BC with Raquel in January 2016. He grew up with his mom, dad and 2 older brothers. His parents were born in Finland and they currently live in Sudbury, ON, but frequently travel to the west coast. His oldest brother lives in Alberta and his middle brother lives in Squamish, BC. He currently works as a Project Manager for a company that repairs and retrofits lights in commercial buildings to be more efficient.
We are both very active people and really enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors. We can’t wait to share and spend time in nature, and teaching your child about the great outdoors. We look forward to hiking, snowboarding, biking, and spending time outside, and giving the opportunity for your child to have new experiences.
We love travelling and have been very fortunate to see a lot of the world together, and we still have a lot of new places we want to explore as a family. We regularly travel to Brazil to visit Raquel’s family, and we’ve also travelled around North America, we’ve been to Europe and also Asia. We can’t wait to explore the world as a family!
We live in beautiful North Vancouver and we think it is one of the best places to raise a child. We live in a 3 bedroom townhouse which is part of a small complex, of 83 homes, and it has lots of young children very close by, a small park, and a swimming pool. There are lots of parks close to us, and great schools to attend within walking distance. We are also only 2 km’s away from the ocean, and at the base of beautiful Mt Seymour. We love where we live and we can’t wait to enjoy the neighbourhood with your little one!
Raquel’s extended family is huge! There are a total of almost 200 people! Most of them live in different cities within Brazil.
Peter’s family lives in 3 different provinces in Canada, and his extended family lives in Finland. What we treasure the most, are the times we get to share with family and friends.
After getting married, we tried becoming parents the traditional way, but we weren’t successful. Then, we tried IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) and IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) and neither worked.
We both have always wanted children in our lives to share our love with. Adoption has always been a part of our conversations. Once we considered becoming adoptive parents, we knew it was the right decision to make our family dreams come true.
We can’t wait to become parents!
We understand that adoption isn’t about us creating our family, but also about you.
We look forward to the opportunity to establish a relationship with you and maintain communication, in writing, on the phone, even in person if you would like. Our hope is to find a level of openness that we are all comfortable with.
We promise to always honour you and your decision to make an adoption plan. Your child will never have to wonder who they are, or where they come from, and you will never have to wonder how they are doing.
Please know how much we respect and how much admiration we have for you for considering an adoption plan for your baby. We wish you peace and love with the courageous decisions you will make.
Thank you for spending the time to learn more about us. If there is any additional information that you would like to know, we would be happy to share more.
