Greg & Danielle
Dear Birth Parent,
Our names are Greg and Danielle. We are happy to have this opportunity to introduce ourselves and help you get to know us. We are honored to be a part of your search for the right adoptive family for your baby.
We met at university 18 years ago, and have been married for over 14 years. We waited a few years before trying to start our family, and found that we are unable to conceive naturally. Our deep desire to be parents and to share our love with a child helped us to look into adoption. We each have siblings that are adopted, and feel that your child will be blessed to have both an aunt and an uncle that will be able to help and support them as they grow. In January of 2009 we were blessed with our first adoption of a beautiful baby boy that we named Lucas. He has grown into a charming little boy, desperate to have a brother or sister! We’ve all been waiting for over 3 years for a new addition to our family and are excited to share our lives with you.
Greg is generally quiet, but has a great sense of humour that tends to sneak up on you and surprise you. Although he doesn’t like to be the centre of attention, his quick wit and easy nature make him easy to like, and he makes friends easily. He is considerate and loving, and deeply values family. He loves outdoor activities, especially camping, hiking, and being active, and looks forward to sharing this with your child. Greg also loves to read books and magazines, likes to keep up to date with local and world events, and loves to travel. I know he will encourage your child to be inquisitive and to learn about the world around us, just as he has done with Lucas. Greg works as a biologist and manages the office of a large environmental consulting firm. His work schedule allows for lots of flexibility allowing him to take part in many of Lucas’ activities during the week. I am so grateful that he is my partner in raising our family. He is a great dad, with the right balance of fun and discipline that makes our home stable, loving and nurturing.
Danielle is a fun, energetic, outgoing person who has no problem being the center of attention. Her sense of humour, sparkling personality and ability to laugh at herself make her an instant hit with everyone she meets. She is very adventurous and always eager to try new things, whether it’s paddleboarding, parasailing or exotic foods! Danielle is a passionate person with a strong sense of right and wrong and who is not afraid to get involved in programs and activities she feels strongly about. I know she will encourage your child to follow his or her own path and is excited about helping him or her experience a wide range of activities. Danielle is an extremely caring and loving person who will be completely devoted to your child. Her work and volunteer activities take a backseat to her greatest desire in life – being a mom. She is a wonderful mom who is patient and caring, firm but fair, and not afraid to embark on daily adventures to entertain Lucas and feed his inquisitive mind. She is the most incredible person I have ever met and the love of my life and I am thankful we are on this journey together.
Our son Lucas, who turned 5 in January 2014, is a bright, happy boy who is full of joy and life. He loves kindergarten, and is excelling at reading and math. At home, Lucas loves to read books and play board games, or play soccer, basketball or football in the yard. He especially loves babies and gets so excited when we visit with our nieces and nephews who are younger than he is. He asks us often when he will have a baby brother or sister! If your hopes for your baby include siblings, Lucas will rock the big brother role!
Our experience raising Lucas has shown us that we can handle the joys and challenges that come with children. It has not always been an easy road but we have learned to support one another and to seek help when needed. Family and good friends – most of whom have young children themselves, surround us and are a part of all aspects of Lucas’ and our lives. Your child will have many playmates, and we have lots of support as we raise our family.
We want you to know that we have such a deep respect for your decision to make an adoption plan for your child. As a Catholic couple, we admire your courage and strength in choosing life for your baby. We will honour that decision throughout the life of your child, sharing about you and the love you have shown.
